They could have elected a competent leader and chose not to. Unfortunately the rest of us have to live with it because of conservative shortsightedness in June-July 2019...
I do. Rory Stewart is an intelligent and experienced man with sincere principles - but the tories didnt like him and wanted their "boris" instead. I do not like Jeremy Hunt very much but I think as an experienced health secretary he might have acted more responsibly in the early months of the pandemic than "Boris" did.
But Tories liked him. They liked that he was funny and posh and brexity and they put that above the national interest. There were lots of candidates to replace Theresa May and they chose one of the worst!
A horrid obese lazy manchild with no work ethic who flip flops on political topics purely for his own selfish gains. "YES PLEASE!!" said the conservatives.
so you liked Rory Stewart obviously the party as a whole didn't, they chose pehaps someone who many could identify with. On his stance over brexit for one thing. They may have made wrong choice, but for the time being thats what we have. If Labour had been in power would you rather had Jeremy Corbyn as leader
I'm not interested in defending labour. But the tories had the option to choose someone competent as the PM from within their own ranks and chose not to do it because they did not want them and preferred the incompetent ignoring all his obvious flaws. It was a very stupid thing to do and one for which we are all paying dearly.
Rory Stewart ?! He was clearly the biggest non-starter of those who threw their hat into the ring. A non-supporter of the nation, keen it remained under the control of an unelected external elite who aren't the slightest interested in the fate of the member nations as long as they remain in power of the federal empire. How he was in a position to be an MP let alone a PM contender is beyond any rational understanding.
Even Mr. Hunt would have been better emmie!! The only person who could possibly have been worse than "weeyyy Boris" is the idiot Dominic Raab... who's now in the government anyway. Oops!
Indeed, he was a non-starter because the tories wanted an obese conman instead of someone with real experience integrity and intellect. But that's tories for you. Rory Stewart has done more for this country and cares more deeply about it than I think "wahey Boris" ever will.
They choose Boris as he was one of the only ones who had a clear idea of what he wanted for Brexit. Most MPs wanted to remain in the EU so in following the public vote they had to pick someone who would follow the vote. Most including Rory would have signed up to almost any deal to keep us tied to the EU whether it was a good deal or not. Whether he stays after January or not is another matter.
I think you confuse democratic with lack of integrity and intellect. You seem keen on pushing no-hopers as being better for some reason. The country needed a patriot at the helm. It seems, via the Tory party, to eventually have picked wisely.
