Dell Inspiron 15-1500 P51F Cannot Log Onto Password Screen

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 500 series, unsure how old it is. Is used little mainly once a month for zoom/MS team calls. I think it has recently run an update. My problem is now when I turn it on-and it powers up, and goes to the screen where you can enter your password to get in. But the password part doesn’t pop up, it’s just the the background picture and date and time I've removed the battery and tried to restart several times but cannot get to enter my log in details.
Help appreciated please on how I can revert back to previous state so can actually use my laptop. Need basic help as not too technical

Thanks for the links. Will keep trying but don't have access to another laptop only an iPad so one option I can't use.

Am sure this happened to me not long ago and just pressed control/Alt/Delete- a think Switch User came up and a password box appeared. Maybe your problems deeper than mine but worth a try???
