Sqad Or Any Medic.

Will try to keep this as concise as possible. Spent all of Christmas in hospital due to very high LFT's . Consultant saw me on the ward Christmas Day and said it's looking like gallstones in the biliary tract.(No gallbladder) Sent home on Boxing Day and have an appointment for a MRCP next Friday, but in the meantime, my GP managed to get me a US scan yesterday at the surgery. Dr who did the scan said he couldn't see any gallstones, no tumours, no fluid in the abdomen but my liver is enlarged and he explained why my skin is very itchy and has a few times, gone yellow due to bile. The last blood test I had was New Years Eve and no further blood tests are booked. No appointment to see the consultant but I expect that would be several weeks after the MRCP.As I had a bad 'do' after eating pork pie and sausage rolls, the gallstone theory made sense but now I'm confused. Would value anyone's opinion please.

I think it may well be the former.
My idea would be to monitor the situation and if there are further episodes, then endoscopic scrutiny of the bike duct would be indicated.

Thanks for that sqad. The thing that worries me is nobody is keeping an eye on my LFT's. When tested on NYE, the GGT had come down from 2062 on the 24th Dec to 1676 which of course is still way too high. The ALKPhos had come down from 294 to 238 and the ALT from 516 to 147. These tests were done in the afternoon of NYE but it was later in the day when I ate the pie and S, rolls when I had severe pain and vomiting all through the night, so blood tests may have changed. Do you think I should ask for a further blood test. My GP or the hospital don't know I had the pain and sickness episode.
I know that had I phoned the hospital when I was poorly, they would have had me in there before my feet could touch the ground, but just like a lot of people, I'm very reluctant to go into hospital as things are at the moment. Since NYE I have been really careful what I eat as well as cutting down on portion size, so hopefully I can stay well until I have my scan and see the consultant. Thanks for lending me your ear sqad.
