In Michael Crick's biography of Nigel Farage; 'One Party After Another', he points out that in 2027 when Farage hits sixty-three, "the gravy train will pull back into the station", & he will start to draw down a pension of £63,400 per year for the rest of his life.
Does this surprise you?

Nothing about what happens in the EU surprises me.
I believe all MEPs get pensions. It's not a surprise.
Kardashev, I think that Khandro was referring to the amount of the pension.
No doubt they have a formula to determine how much they get.
Not nearly enough in my opinion.
When people reach retirement age they take their pensions. Why should that surprise anyone?

Yes danny, it seem to be a staggering amount (for doing so little) So I think Anne Widdecombe & all those unknown ones that don't spring to mind should have a nice comfortable old age.
"doing so little" - he did a huge amount! He was an MEP for 21 years for gawd sake!

TTT, I know the institutions quite well & believe me, they ain't exactly sweat-shops
Khandro me old china you make no sense, so MEPs pensions in Khandro Land should be based on how much physical Labour they do? Or is that just for the ones you don't like?
I'm sure I read somewhere that he made quite a bit making Brussels speeches aimed at Russian audiences for broadcast over there, which speeches had litle to do with the business in hand.
Perhaps someone could confirm or otherwise?
I think the EU has been far too generous with it's salaries/handouts & tax concessions for both its politicians & civil servants. A (minor) reason why I voted OUT.

TTT Nigel Farage's main work was AGAINST the EU - they rejoiced when he left- He finally succeeded in getting Britain out, & is rewarded with a fine pension from 'them', do you not find in there some irony?

Also, personally as a tax-payer in both the UK & the EU, I'm slightly miffed at having to contribute to his retirement. It's win win for Nige.
It's the nature of politics I'm afraid - should the SNP at Westminster not earn their salaries and pensions because they want to break up the UK?
Khandro: "TTT Nigel Farage's main work was AGAINST the EU - they rejoiced when he left- He finally succeeded in getting Britain out, & is rewarded with a fine pension from 'them', do you not find in there some irony? " - irony? yes, but do you think they should have a rule that says you only get the pension of you are good EUSSR bunny? You should start thinking this stuff through me old china.
Khandro: "Also, personally as a tax-payer in both the UK & the EU, I'm slightly miffed at having to contribute to his retirement. It's win win for Nige. " - yeah but look on the bright side, thanks largely to Lord Farage you won't have to pay any more for the EUSSR machine!
Are you blaming Nigel Farage?
Here's part of an article by Carol Cadwalladr of the Guardian from 2018.
"Richard Corbett, the leader of the Labour party in the European parliament, explains how it works. “Farage turns up once a month and often what he talks about has absolutely nothing to do with what’s being discussed. You think, what’s going on? And then you realise it’s got nothing to do with the parliament. It’s just for his social media output. Sometimes he doesn’t even hang around for the answers. Two minutes later, he’s back on the Eurostar and gone.” (Statistics for voting and attendances show Farage is ranked 738th out of 751 MEPs for productivity.)

It’s these YouTube set-piece speeches, pumped via the site’s algorithm to the phones and laptops of an entirely new generation, that are Farage’s power base now. And, at the centre of this, is RT (formerly Russia Today), the Kremlin-controlled English-language broadcaster. RT made Farage a YouTube star."

Gives a bit of background to Farage's Euro parliament performance.
nope - doesnt surprise me at all -

Farage's biog - - One party after another
that should be Boris' biog innit? - surely shome mishtake - to quote private eye
