Previous form yet sentence still suspended. How many chances should offenders get ?

Without a greater clampdown, this behaviour will continue unabated.

Prisons are full, they need to build more.
I've read the report again and think the sentence is okay - he has previous for common assault and possession of drugs going back four years or more when he would have been tried as a juvenile and this time he was found guilty of actual bodily harm, not the more serious grievous bodily harm.
The previous conviction for common assault could have been anything relatively minor such as a push or a threat.

The five-year football banning order and the £3k compensation for the victim will have more effect on him than a short stint in prison.

We do need more prisons, though.
Is this not a little strange, from barry's link above
"He has also been banned from attending football matches for five years and will be under a curfew between 8pm and 5.30am for six months. This does not apply on Wednesdays and Thursdays."

Makes me wonder what is so important about Wed/Thurs (even if it is something to do with his father)?
10.56. But I thought he didn't have a father.
Probably his choir practice evenings.
He is employed so maybe it’s to do with his job or has other commitments.
Naughty, piggy... ;)
