Cryptic Jumbo

It’s ages since I last wrote to you so my first and more important message is that I hope you are all well and enjoying the beginning of summer . I’ve had a good run on the Saturday cryptic jumbos but , wow, has today’s brought me to earth. I’ve poured over it for yonks but really cannot get into this setter’s way of thinking. I’ve done barely half and have decided to abandon the chase.
