3 x parsing queries :- 1) Making call, I land (5) I?D?A Looks like INDIA (land?), but don't get the rest. 2) Art working for a while perhaps to create a storm? (7) T?M?E?T. Looks like TEMPEST. I get TEMP = "working for a while", and TEMPEST = "storm", but where do "Art" and EST fit in? 3) Fetching gift from cleaner's mother (8) ?H?R?S?A. Looks like CHARISMA ("Fetching gift") and "cleaner's mother" = CHAR'S MA, but where does the I come from? TIA.

1 Making call 'I' in NATO phonetic alphabet = INDIA
Art as in who art in heaven... means who Is in heaven. French for is is EST
Ok maybe not...not French indication in clue.

Thanks, Captain2, for both of those - I get them. Sorry, bobbinwales, I don't accept the "French" (not mentioned in the clue) connection at all. Furthermore, thou art in French would be Tu es, not Tu est. Can anybody else shine a better light on this?
Cleaner IS ma - char is ma
'Art' is an old English form of 'are', as in 'thou art'. So in old English you might say 'thou tempest'. Pretty convoluted, though.

Many thanks, goodgoalie. I suspect you're right, and agree that it be very convoluted.
