It could be Lender or Loaner if the g is incorrect

As it's a cryptic crossword 'banker' usually means a river. So, if the 'D' is wrong, it could be the River LIFFEY.

What gave you the 'D', Carmel?
If D is wrong, could be lugger. Banker and lugger sailing vessels/used in fishing industry.
