What personality does your town, in your opinion, have?

I come from Bath. In my opinion it has the personality of (and I only know this character from Jeeves & Wooster) of 'The Next Lord Somethingorother'. Chuffy, I think his name was in the books, but it doesn't matter.

Basically explained, it has a lot more in it, but is kept down by the expectation that it will inherit the title, the house, the debts that go with it and have to look proper at the same time while wanting to be in the city enjoying the life that his other friends are having.

I could politicise this explanation of the city by talking about the people, and I'm sure some of you will in your answers (if you answer) but I shan't.

But I will say that it has the fact that it is, in its entirity (as far as I can tell the only whole English city), a UNESCO Heritage site. And as much as it feels proud of this it also feels a tad weighed down by it, possibly even resentful of it.

That's my interpretation of my hometown. What would you say is your place's personality, and feel free to psychoanalyse as I have with mine.

Not only the UNESCO heritage thing - sounds like I'm boasting - but that its industry is tourism. It is its title.

Did I make myself clear? Am I making myself clearer?

Who knows? I'm giving up on this. I look forward to reading your answers.

I live very near Bath in a town called Trowbridge I moved here a year ago from Salisbury and I like to refer to Trowbridge as the town thats helping the police with its enquiries!
Here in manchester i'm sad to say it often reminds me of Bez.
It is basically scummy put once it gets a bit of money it goes mad for it and gets some posh clothes and over indulges. The party never lasts that long and once again returns to scum. Dont worry though - it will rise phoenix like stronger than ever and just as lovable.
i live in Norfolk. Nuff said!!
My nearest large town (sorry, city) is Preston and all I can describe it as is a sad relic of the industrial revolution, desperately trying to be a modern city but falling somewhat short.
i'm not far from bath and trowbridge... i'm from swindon. i think people make their own judgements on it but personally i think its quite a nice town
