New Mobile Phone - Help Please
20 Answers
I have bought a new PAYG phone - a more basic model.
I want to keep my old phone number. I have changed my phone before and managed to transfer the number to the new phone.
I am having a bad day and my brain has gone AWOL.
Do I put my old sim in my new phone and text SWAP from that?
Or do I use my old sim in my old phone and then text SWAP?
The problem is that I can't get my old phone to open - I don't want to risk damaging the phone if I don't have to open it.

You have to have the swapping app on both phones, then put the sim and memory card (if there is one) in the new phone and then run swap on the new phone. If it works like smart switch it should tell you what to do from there.
TTT, that sounds much too complicated. I just want to swap the number over to my new phone. I know that it is simple as I have done it before.
ael - I made the mistake of trying to follow the instructions. I want to keep my old number.
Last time that I did this I was told that I couldn't move the old sim into the new phone.
Thanks to both of you.

The LG Joy takes a micro SIM. Most modern phones take a nano SIM. If this is your situation you just need to go to you service provider and get them to swap the SIM for a smaller one. If both phones take the same size SIM, then as others have said, just pop it out of one and put it in the other. The SIM is effectively your phone number.
