The Week 1330

Thanks mainly to the Postal Strikes, I didn't receive this puzzle in time to submit it. Having tackled it, my only problem is with parsing 11 Dn: Deer, for example, rush around (4) ?O?S. It looks as if it should be either DOES or ROES (both being Deer), but I can't make any sense of the "rush around".
I see that on Friday 23rd Sept, at around 9pm, 3 people (including Captain2) gave DOES as the answer without any attempt to parse the clue. Shortly afterwards, Captain2 posted again saying " deer = does (doughs) (to) rush around = does (duzz?), which I don't understand at all.
The solution has now appeared in The Week Issue 1404, and the answer is indeed DOES. Can anyone parse this clue clearly for me, or does one have to infer that it is another of Mr Moorey's not infrequent errors?

I suspect it might be an error - the clue would make sense if deer was the solution and does was in the wordplay since deer is rush (Reed) around/ reversed
