Thank you both. x
Tilly2, hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.

Well, NAC, I can't stop looking at it but seem to have hit a brick wall.
Talking of which, can you help with 42ac.Fellow cockney wall builder (6)?
??D?O?

Then, I might twig what 36 down is. ?I?? so far.
Adrian
THanks, Tilly2. Your O is wrong in 42 . The 'fellow' is just a name, to a Cockney he was responsible for building a wall, a wall in the UK...
Question Author
Annatta?
I put Annetto.

Thank you both.
Annatta sounds like A Natter, a gossip,in the clue.
Question Author
Doh!
Thanks, Tilly2, I felt you must have overlooked that bit (and hoped you didn't mind my reminder!)
Question Author
Not at all. Thank you.

Right, flying onwards and upwards with 36d!
?I?D
Tilly2, I feel it's not quite right to give the theme word, unlock the puzzle. But you're right to be flying onwards and upwards...
Question Author
No, you're right, NAC. I apologise for my little joke. Not funny in retrospect.
My first ever attempt at this crossie. I'm 3 short of a full grid. 12D is giving me a headache. got the theme. Not sure what to do next. I'm a little tipsy as I've just got in. But will re-visit in the morning with the help from you guys. Must admit, didn't really enjoy it. Especially having to find Scottish dialect for a word. (Is this a Scottish Crossword ? I don't know, just thought I'd give it a whirl as I found the download for free) and many on here seem to like it. (maybe I may grow fond of it, who knows)

Sorry to deviate from said question. Can anyone help me with 12D

Mike scatted very accurately with no developed melody (13)

I have: ?T?E?A?I?A?LY

Or have I gone wrong somewhere ?

Thank you. (I may not reply straight away, but I will be back in the morning :-)
Ps Tilly2. I did the same. I had 'Annatto'
12d (m)ATHEMATICALLY = 'very accurately (m=mike 'scatted' = fled).
Thank you prof mazie. I forgot the subtraction. Mind will hopefully come back tomoz. Thanks :-)
Oops. ProfessorMaisie :-)
