Oh my NAC, That's a long time indeed. But glad to see Matakari is persistant with this crossword and has never given in.

I fear that 11,31 and 33 will take its toll on many. I got lucky with my search (with thanks to Prof Maisie for a direction of what to look for) The first two themes were well in my grasp having good knowledge of both. The final 3 had me going round in circles till I got lucky and the penny dropped.

Another couple of hints
The second part of 42 is a fish round R for right.
44 is a simple anagram.
30 down is pronounced in the German way.
NACW, it wasn't the compiler I was expecting.

Novalis, I think I was expecting Doc - expecting, not hoping for! I usually enjoy Fieldfare, but was a little disappointed in this one.
