I've seen it answered as Amritsar - 8 letters

Using crossword solver I got ATE for Processed Ham, then I had WILL or DEED and TSAR

It has to start with A as the answers are in alphabetical order.

Totally stumped!

Read the wrong line - it is 8 letters.

Ripped (4) heavy weigh (3) = 7

I get Torn/Tore and Ton

Closest I get from that is Thornton - but thats 8 letters

Like you I find them difficult because accents from different parts of country don't match up with setter best of luck I cannot remember what I put for the bob answer
