I've found this particularly tricksy today, as some of the answers (including all of these) contain words that have to be represented in the grid by symbols, so I can't give the usual letters and blanks as I don't know what's going to be missing in the grid.

17D: He cuts some six new horror films (6, 7)

46D 64-ton emu bred at NT property (9, 5)

61D File of memorabilia is a difficult problem in poker (7)

67A Make professional contact with opponents and pair of kings (7)

67 Network...
17d slasher movies
46d Montacute house
61d tickler
17d Slasher Movies
Slasher (He cuts) + Movies (Indirect anagram of 'some VI')
I'm looking at it and I don't understand what the 'symbols' bit is.
For example, I across is: Finish one's sentence and obey road sign. (4,2,1,4,4)
...Come to a full stop
But the grid has only 8 lights and I don't know what to do to enter the above answer.

Those all gel, thanks!

And 64A (referenced in 46) is HOT SAUCE, so MONTACUTE HOUSE is an anagram of that and TON EMU.
come to a .
As a guess Tilly
Come to a .
The . is a symbol.
Might be wrong though :-)
Question Author
@Tilly2 - you put the symbol in the space to replace the word for the symbol. So "COME TO A FULL STOP" in only 8 lights is written as "COME TO A ."
The one I kee quoting is 18a Neurological entered as

N € logical
Thank you both.
Who is the setter?
Maskarade (Tom Johnson)
Ah right, he's also Doc in The Spectator, about which there are many queries on AB. He's The Spectator crossword editor.
He also sets cricket-themed puzzles for Wisden.
Got it now. Thank you all.
Hi all. Struggled to a conclusion, but cannot parse two clues, including 61D. Can anyone help? As above 61D is File of memorabilia is a difficult problem in poker (7) = "tickler". 20 across is Hour at church causing row at church (6) = "tierce".
terce a service forming part of the Divine Office of the Western Christian Church, traditionally said (or chanted) at the third hour of the day (i.e. 9 a.m.).
tierce
1.
another term for terce.
tier=row ce=church
donny; the symbol in tierce is 'tie'
Atheist, could you further explain your meaning ?
61d is a triple def - a 'tickler file' is a memorandum book, a difficult problem and someone who pokes.
donny; the clue leads to 'tierce' (i.e. tier =row, next to ce =church of england)
A tie is a symbol. I can't type the symbol but it's like an upside down saucer. So you replace the 'TIE' by the symbol, meaning that you enter into the grid "symbol,RCE"
