Hey you peepsies. So me my oh and a few friends is going Philippines for 2 weeks to relax on a quaint beach. However one of the friends has gang tattoos all over his face from South America. He is a genuinely nice person and very harmless but I was thinking is this likely to give us problems? I only thought to ask this because he said he wouldn’t be able to ever now go to South America and was wondering any other places? Thank you all hehe

could he identify as a woman & take the veil?

He said no I’m afraid
If he's such a nice bloke why has he got gang tats all over his boat?
he just wanted to fit in
Could be not have them added to, maybe get a tiger or a dog face like kids get at parties?

They're not threatening at all.

Reminds me of the criminal in "Papillon" who had a mask tattooed on his face so no one could recognise him!

Well I’m super glad you are all judging and such. If you must know he fell into the wrong crowd when you get because of his insecurities and has been a drug addict for over 20 years. He says the tattoos are the best thing he has ever done.
"He says the tattoos are the best thing he has ever done. " - Really? just what you need to get on in life eh?

Now now tira you are hardly him are you so how would you know anything about what would help a recovering drug addict or a specific individual that you have never met. I genuinely love the fact you know what’s best for everyone lol.
I don't know what's best but I have a pretty good idea what isn't!

So are you telling me you know what isn’t the best for someone. Because if it means it isn’t the best then it means not doing it is the best. You don’t seam to be able to have rational thought and are just being judgmental. Oh well hehe
He sounds like a lovely intelligent trustworthy person…..the type any mother would like for a son in law ……….
Does his face look like it does in his passport??? If not then he will have a problem.

Hi Sharon that’s a great point and yes he does. Thank you for being so helpful :) can’t say as much for the rest of the judgemental comments ts but thanks. Can’t beat a good bit of discrimination.
A doubt many will know how the Philippian authorities may react. Perhaps ask at Boots for a good concealer etc..
Question Author
Well thanks old geezer that helps a bunch . We all went to go on an extra of films. When they saw him they promised concealer but it never appeared. I guess the discrimination is too far gone these days. We went to a hotel and tried to get a room then they said fully full. I booked online then they just checked us all in. This discrimination is real. No one knows what he has gone through to get these horrible things on his face and yet he still says it’s the best thing he has done. When we checked in the hotel he was the nicest to the person who denied us. I don’t get it but hey this world is full of amazing peepsies haha
UK, interesting comments to the replies.
Surely if a person has the right to express his feelings and self by having very visible tattoos, others have the right to react
tattoos on trunk and limbs are one thing, on the face is another, and comparatively uncommon. The likeliest place to visit might be Polynesian islands, where facial tattooing is not uncommon and generally accepted.

Oh I don't think anyone needs to worry too much about discrimination at the Philippines border.

UKs mate is called Harvey.
