I have an answer for 42 and I think it’s the same as yours. I’ll go with it.

I found it to be a puzzle of two halves - fairly gentle regular clues in the main but the unclued answers took up most of my time. First time I’ve finished the main clues before them.
I now have a plateau in S. India which is probably wrong ?

That’s the one I’m going with.
I'm now putting this one to bed

Me too, and I’m strangely glad about it. Not as much fun as usual.

18d for example…took me ages to work out the location of the word separation, let alone the actual words. A very obscure and diverse selection of unclued answers this week.
so one of the proper nouns is 42A presumably and that leaves another one for me, but am not sure which one that is
Frustrating puzzle:
I have only one clued light left which is 40A

Russian unit , experienced its said (5) ?E??T
And then could i have a clue for the very odd looking 22D which i have as ?Y?CH??CH
and 18 down i believe must be two words but am not sure where the break comes
I have Dymchurch for 22d.
18 D Is split 5,6.
40a Verst. (sounds like versed - experienced)
I think 28d is something system.
I mean 18d.
Tilly2, but would that, 18 D, fit in with the title, the entries...?
Tilly re 18d I have two words with D in first and two C's in second making 700
Doh! Back to the drawing board.
Thanks, Tilly2. I'm sure it'll not take you long to get the correct answer.
Ah! I need to wear a 9d. :-)
Good evening, a pretty gentle set of clues from Doc this week.
The Unclueds, however, tended to create lots of uncertainties
and mental gymnastics. I thought, at first, that all the Unclueds
began with D except 18d which demanded much time before
the penny dropped.
No, Tilly2, you don’t need to wear a 9d. The split for 18d is
5/6, think of commerce, exchange, in constant rotation and
voilà!
Thank you. I've got it now.
Please can someone help me with the unclued 26D? I can't quite work out where I've gone wrong...

I have ?NCL?

Working on the theme that would leave me with DNCLC (?!)

Can anyone offer a clue?

For 30A I have "Biro, or Bic, for Saki, say" (3,4) = Pen Name.

For 32A I have "Poor socialite is missing purgative medicine" = Aloetic

TIA
