British entertainment again for the theme (with a long history on BBC radio 4). There rules of the game disallow 3 things, there are 3 types of each (all different).
ProfessorM, I’m a little puzzled by the third group, I’m assuming 10d, 36a, 39a. How do they qualify as such? I can see how two letters recur (backwards) in the first two, but there must be more to it than that?
That's right, Keepatit - it's as simple as that (but don't think of them going forwards or back - they're simply discarded when they crop up again, one by one)
8 (the name of the creator) 5+4 (the type of show it is).
The title is 4 1 6 (and I know we've had the same theme and similar treatment before, but if you need a further hint just say, hankir).
Thanks ProfessorM.
Got distracted by EV. Almost done with grid but will start a new thread.
What is 13a? I have T??O?.
And 21a?
For creator's name starts with and ends in R?
13a Def a hybrid ('cross') US 'sleeper' on a railtrack = TI[e] 'e' extra + 'almost' GON(e).
21a Is reversed in the first 2 words of the clue [after you remove the extra 'a'].
Creator's name starts with 'm' (the extra letter in 11a) and ends 'r' (from 35a).
Thanks ProfessorM.
One of my letters was wrong but found Ian.
The game was unknown to me.
I read up on it and found the letters to be dropped from 9 answers.
Will try to finish EV soon.
