Genius 244 - Parsing Help Please

The wordplay in the clue contains a superfluous letter. In this case the letter is an "F"
Whence Frank has heroine initially run away - extraordinary strangeness ensues (6) ?A?S?S
I think the answer is "Kansas" and is to do with Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz" - Dorothy initially runs away from Kansas. Therefore Kansas fits the whole clue, but I have also tried to anagram (F)rank has (-h for heroine) but I have an R instead of an S. If I take "R" for run away, I am left with an H instead of an S.
Is it parsed some other way please?
Many thanks!

if the F is superfluous, you have "rank has". Heroine initially is "h" and run is "r". Take these away, you have "ank as". Extraordinar y is an anagram indicator. Follow it with "s" for strangeness - particle physics terminology.
