Why replace A levels with something else with a silly name? What's wrong with A levels? Too hard? Baccalorryups trendy and above all easier for the snowflakes are they?

The baccalaureate is just another name for a bachelor's degree and is not a replacement for A levels

Seems to want alignment of A dn T levels which could be a good thing.

Plus over the last few years I believe the A level (and O) has got itself a bad rep so maybe not a bad thing to do.  Names of qualifications do get changed over the years.

TBF A level questions are often old O level ones so they are getting easier anyway.

If it encourages more people in to technical subjects that can only be a good thing

It also needs to be countered with a better push for vovational training.  Those are the skills we need most at the moment.

Think it is the International Baccalaureate that is offered in overseas international schools and on line schools. Granddaughter attends on line school and is taking IGCSE (International GCSE) exams. The IB is in place of Alevels and more subjects are taken

This has been talked about for a long time, long before I retired in 2012.  I think our system is in need of an overhaul, so it may well be a good thing. IB is not trendy and is not easier - can one or two of us stop being so rude about 'snowflakes'.

Not sure where this is leading, piggy, are you looking for some sort of ammo? I don't usually even mention my minor qualifications and in my history of employment I have never had to prove any of them anyway.

Apologies piggy, I get a lot of stick from the 5C types on here. Anyway, uneducated does not = Thick. Did you know, for example you can do a mensa test even if you are illiterate?

Piggy  FWIW One of my best friends is Illiterate, but he's a car mechanic and body shop savant. I run his online life for him, bank accounts the lot. He jus never got on with school and had a disturbing early life but he's smarter than most, just uneducated.

My son did the International Baccalaureate instead of Alevels.  It's definitely not an easier option.
