They do say that any item is only worth what someone is prepared to pay.

The five pound coin.

Details below are crucial so mind you dont confuse with other five pound coins.

UK Royal mint, 1999-2000 Millennium Anno Domini.

I've seen the above on ebay, asking prices, £1800, £1500, £850, Have they really reached these prices or is it just wishfull thinking? I believe up to a point its the silver content, and some where made with a gold insert. Some cheaper versions were the normal silver/ nickle content. Any thoughts or any self research/ opinion would be welcome.

Have you the link to the item?

I'll give you £5 for one - if you pay the postage!

TCL 11.14 no link, just enter details of coin into ebay. Some are advertised as 921 fine others especially cheaper ones dont say.

The reason i ask is that most of these commemorative coins are pretty worthless, even over many years old. I had a sort out not to long ago and found i have two of them.

sooner or later everyone will have a sort out, there will be only a few left on the market, and scarcity will drive the price up again. It's mostly a matter of how many generations your family is prepared to wait before cashing in on your prescience.
