Good morning, got a few for what looks like a real challenge this week. Help with the following would be appreciated to continue, thanks in advance!

(Each clue contains a misprint in the definition. In clue order the correct letters give three characters, the subject of a QUESTION in a work. In accordance with the work’s title, ten cells must be emptied, leaving real words or phrases ( ignoring gaps ). Chambers Dictionary ( 2016 ) is recommended. )

11a Pears and lychee fermented, drunk arhcly missing things used in perries ( 5 ):  ???E?

14a Follower of May nuts about start of our independence ( 6 ) : ?AO?AT

15a US fuel rich, incorporating oxygen ( 8 )  : ???N??RD

Matakari, I think that's about 20 clues that you've sought help with. I'm sure the answers must have filled in a substantial chunk of the grid now.

Question Author

Many thanks, NACW and cashier! Hints for 28a, 31a, 19d and 21d should help to complete my grid.

What letters have you hotplease for 31a? And the others .

Maybe worth reposting the 4 clues too.

Question Author

Thanks, newmodarmy, I’m reposting the four clues for ease of reference.

28a Pal’s previous prices for murder in Spain: heaps ( 6 )  : E??C?S

31a Lose badly, accommodating university where LA headquarters is found ( 5) : SE???

19d Pitch up with especially ordinary treat ( 7 )  : ?S????E

21d Spencer’s mare near part of Mediterranean upset ( 5 ) : N????

31a. I was thinking of a capital city in SK but can't see what the definition and misprint would be

^unless it's LG for la

28 The misprint is in the first word,so Pat indicates a local word...

21 D. The 'mare' is  'more...'

Glad your grid is almost complete, Matakari. I'm keen for you to tackle the thematic bit - it'd be great if you managed that on your own.

Cashier 30d Boar is correct - "mule should read "mAle"

Matakari, re the misprint  - the Headquarters of "LG" are in Seoul

25a The misprint should read Aboriginal ladY - Y for S, and the answer is hidden in "laggings", a derogatory term for an Aboriginal lady.

21d Spenser's term for "mOre near" and the answer is hidden reversedin Mediterranean"

19d Hitch up = esp(ecially) + o(rdinary) + use

Good morning, jj109 and NACW,thanks for a great lesson with this one! Reading over my grid, I realise I may have made quite a few errors. First of all, confirmation for the following would be appreciated.

29a  Tearing once, lost foot in entrance hall ( 4 )   OYER

33a  Spa residents regularly steamiest ( 4 )  TAIS
24d Cry about city’s limitless cull of lapwing ( 6 )  PEEWIT
27d  Gina’s temple might feature this, partly empty and almost uninhabited ( 5 )  PYLON

And HINTS for this final batch, thanks!

24a  Charge old currency ( 4 )  PESO

30a  Chuck dog back to king ( 4 )

32a  Nursery rhyme catalogued Iain’s grandchild accepting irrational ( 4 )

34a  Printing work without header ( 3 )

10d  Bolt tries three bottles ( 4 )  EST?

Your top 4 which you wanted checking are all correct

30a The misprint is the U in chuck - it should be CHECK

Three letter abbreviated dog (named after a place in Canada) reversed + K(ing)

Misprints

29a Hearing not Tearing

33a S.E.A. not Spa

24d Call not cull

27d Giza's not Gina's

With all the misprints that I have given you, you should be ableto guess at least one of the characters, if not all three!

32a Iain's (Scottish) grandchild = OE

Place a well known irrational number of 2 letters in the middle and the result is the surname of Iona and Peter ???? - nursery rhyme cataloguers.

32a Catalogued should read catalogue"R"

34a Printing should be pAinting

A 4 letter word for hard work less the first letter should give you a medium that artists paint in.

24a I think is "PASS" - certainly the second letter is an A so we have PAS?

To pass in the sense of to put into circulation, to give currency to

The Misprint is Change rather than Charge

Not sure of this one

10d tries three "bottles" ESTH, ie it is hidden in the clue.

However the misprint needs to be an A. I don't have Chambers! Is a boat or a bola an esth? - or am I completely off track?

24a PA?S
