Again, just the one. (Why is it that, so often, it is just the last clue you can't get?) :-  About to eliminate resistance in the old capital (7) Y?O?N?E.  The answer is YAOUNDE (the current - rather than the old - capital of Cameroon).  Could someone please explain this to me.  TIA.

Of course, strictly speaking, in the old form of 'the' YE, the Y is not a Y but the letter thorn, pronounced 'th'.

So when people pronounce, say, Ye Olde Tea Shoppe' as Yee..., they're wrong, it should be 'the'
