Shall I complain to the editor? Clue:Acknowledgement that  doctor's up in his practice? 3,4,2,7,6 letters.Answer : you know my methods Watson.How on earth is anybody supposed to get that answer?? I feel like complaining to the Times editor, but feel it will get me nowhere. What do you think?

Racoony, I agree that this was an odd and difficult clue. The Times crossword editor, Richard Rogan, died at the weekend - so maybe not the ideal time to send in a complaint?

I had a few crossers in, so saw it quite easily, but I agree, not the best clue.

Thanks, Lie-in King, I saw the death mentioned (on fifteensquared). I used to like the occasional comment RR supplied, maybe in the Feedback section on Saturdays - I can't remember the details.

Thanks for letting me know about Richard Rogan.I won't complain on this occasion.It's interesting to know there is an editor as I don't see much evidence of one.
