The Puzzle in the Independent Newspaper

In the Independent, they have a puzzle called "Get the Picture Daily". Today I cannot figure it out and its killing me. You have to link 4 pictures together to get the name of someone in the news. The first picture was of an old vase/jug/urn. The second picture simply had the letter "S". The third was what looked like Venice, with a gondola going along a canal, and the fourth was of a bell. Does anyone have any idea who the person is meant to be?
