Don't blame Neil Diamond- that's a different use of the term. Someone hhas pointed out before about Reach Out and I'll be There by the Four Tops. Reaching out is avalid expression but it's overused and misused when a simple contacted/ messaged /asked etc would suffice.

yes, I have 'reached out' to many people. First time when a bin lorry had banged my car ( they  hadnt) and the mgr went to the lengths of getting the GPS route and a photo was involved ( kinda odd since the route was nowhere near my car)

so I thought he had gone the extra mile
