Starmer was asked at today's PMQ whether he intended to raise Council Taxes,a question that he refused to answer.
It now seems that the Government have given the green light for the to be increased by 5%. How many more hidden tax rises can we expect from this lot?

The W.F.A. removal has hit us fairly hard as (because of OH's heart problems at the moment) we have to keep the house at c. 22C - even then he is sometimes looking white and cold and having to go to bed to get warm.
Increased Council tax....... we get little in our village for it! OK the Waste-bin collections are great........ that's about it. 2 buses a week? Oh! and they cut the grass on the village green and cut the verges of the approaching roads 3 times a year.
Atheist - our roads are riddled with potholes. I have a new suspension break every 2 years on average. Council workers I've chatted to said that they were sorry for people living on the edges of areas because they got nothing. We are 400m from N. Yorkshire.
Yes, local school - in fant/juniors takes from 10 miles around inc. N. Yorks..
I understand all these things, including paying for the secondary schooling 10 miles away. Happy to do so, in fact.
We expect to pay for these things - but a reasonable amount. Perhaps it is time for a more pro-rata calculation, given the few services we have in the village?

WEBBO, the Labour Manifesto made no mention of council tax.
\\The manifesto stated, "Labour will not increase taxes on working people, which is why we will not increase National Insurance, the basic, higher, or additional rates of Income Tax, or VAT."//
A council tax rise is a tax on the working people, they will be paying more money of of their pockets
