Knife crime is sadly on the rise, mainly because there is not a strong enough punishment or awareness about it taught in schools.

And you can still buy knifes online. Its just crazy, and they have proved time and time again the age restriction of buying one is not working and never will.

There is no reason for anyone needing a knife especially these fancy hunting knifes. So whats the problem of banning ALL sales, i just dont get it.

Just goes to show what a sad place the UK is to live in now.   What a cesspit it has become. OMG. The poor lad and his family.

ANY knife will kill. Veg knife, carving knife, even bread knife. It's the person not the implements used. Scissors etc. you cannot ban everything, or can you?

It wasn't too long ago I thought knife crime was an epidemic that centered around London, but now it is a pandemic. It's sad that my default thought when I see a gang of unruly youths is "They are probably carry knives"

The police don't appear to care. 6 months ago a video was shared of a local youth scumbag pulling out a knife during a fight, he actually drew blood on the other kid.

Police visit him and, and, and, let me get this right ..

nothing

Absolutely nothing!

The authorities are not powerless, they are just simple cowards.

I agree that you can stab with all most anything. But theres a big attraction to young people to carry a fancy hunting knife, at least take this attraction away by completely banning  them, anything else is pointless.

Anything can kill.  I have a pair of tiny nails scissors in my handbag. Their points and blades are probably about 1/4" - but if I aimed carefully they could be lethal.

It's nothing to to with the implements - the problem is the people!

There was supposed to be crackdown with tough penalties for those caught carrrying knives - but I read that the creature who committed the Southport murders was found with knives several times previously. What happened there?

It happened on the day that Starmer was giving his speech about Southport, terrorism and knife crime. The kids don't listen to any of that and there will probably be more of this.

Such a shame for that boy. RIP.

You can just go online & buy a machete or hunting knife to be delivered in post nxt day with no questions asked. Not  about your age. Not your profession/hobby ie maybe fishing etc... and absolutely no limit to amounts either. So you could go online & order 20 machetes with as much ease as buying a loaf of bread. In fact a teenage boy did just that - not 20 machetes, but a vast selection of all different types of knives. The police just couldn't believe it when they searched his bedroom. He was only 14 or 15 I believe.

According to Pixie its all Amazons fault.

Online purchases are not the underlying issue(although I approve of stricter rules).  Knives are in every drawer in every house, whats Pixie going to do next, ban cooking?

As with guns in the USA, and I have said this many many times, we need to find the underlying problem and stop distracting by blaming the tools.

It's not all Amazon's fault, they do have a business to run but it is their fault that they don't have good age identification procedures in place.

//but it is their fault that they don't have good age identification procedures in place.//

They do verify though, I know have bought from them.

Curly, no it wont.

Stop and search may reduce knife crime (and should be done) but then they will just move onto somethign else like a motor vehicle or a screwdriver or whatever.

Ah, those foolish Americans with their kitchen guns.

There's a big difference between small domestic knives and large serrated decorative zombie knives. Firstly, one of them is impressive and gives status. Secondly, the wounds inflicted by zombies are more serious.

Carrying a knife should be treated the same as carrying a loaded gun.

Especially as there is no bang with a knife.
