Have to be blunt and say why go to Turkey to do this? Any reputable goldsmith near you will do it. Not the high street chains as they aren't 'smiths but only outlets. Look in your local yellow pages and employ someone here. Choose the design of what you want - they will advise the options based on the weight available and get a quote from a couple to see who does the sort of work you are looking for. There are lots of skilled craft designers that would love to help you.
I had my Mum's wedding ring and my Dad's signet ring (both deceased and the rings were too big for me to wear) melted down and made into a plain gold bangle which I wear every day.
Where in the UK are you? You could get this done at a hundred places in Birmingham jewellery quarter with no risk and probably as cheaply if not cheaper - and you'd finish up with a much better quality product, properly assayed.
