my cat loves tea. is it safe?

We used to have a cat that loved nothing better than to get on the table when she thought no-one was watching and put her head right in a teacup for a drink (obviously she was a tiny little thing!). Oh, and it was always the dregs, so it was virtually cold.

It never seemed to do her any harm, and she really lapped it up. I've still got a photo of her with her head stuck in a cup :o)

I had a white cat who used to dip his paw into any cups left down by the sofa. Took me ages to figure out why one of his front paws had a brownish stain on it sometimes. Then I caught him at it - dipping into the tea cup and licking his paw. Cute.

He seemed fine with it so I don't think it's cause for concern, unless your cat is on 5 cups a day...

I don't know about cats but I had a rabbit that had a saucer of tea (& some wholemeal toast) every morning for his breakfast. Before anyone starts yelling may I say he never had a days illness & lived to the life expectancy of his breed. My little dog loves tea too.

I'm so glad someone asked this, as my kitten of 6 months, also sticks his head in my cup for the last drops of tea!

My cat loves a cup of tea but I began to worry if it was safe for her. Unfortunately I have found various websites that say tea is harmful to cats. (So is the milk).
If you look in dangerous foods for dogs in this website, it explains more.
Sorry cats no more tea breaks :-(
