Thank you Misstee. I could not see that connection. It has taken me all evening to do this crossword - I think it was kayakamina who said he had done it in 45 minutes!!

I have just realised that it is karate with the e chopped off! Obvious when the penny drops. Yes, I was presuming kayakamina was a he - I don't know why.
