Floating Gold Fish-Belly Up
2 Answers
Hi All,
One of my gold fish "Christy" is floating (nearly belly up first) and I've read somewhere that the best thing to do is separate her from the rest into another tank that has a lot less water so he does not need to swim too high to the top and feed him peas....suggestions?
Apart from this problem, Christy and another gold fish "tiny" has a lot of tear on their fins, can anybody help and tell me what I should do to fix this? I've tried methylene blue and other goldfish fin rot stuff(s) but nothing seems to help....
Please help, don't want to lose them.

One of the things that I found was a problem with their swim bladders. If the fish is otherwise healthy, just happens to swim upside down, try massage!!! I know this sounds strange but I found that they are prone to getting air trapped in their swim bladder, hold the fish and gently massage from head to tail, as if trying to encourage it to s***.....strange, but it worked for some of mine. Hope this helps.

Hi divegirl...sorry for the delay on the "thanks" :) for getting back to me. Both GF are still alive. Tiny is still tiny with torn tails and fins all sticking to her side. Christy (whom I decided to rename "Landi") is doing better apart from torn fins and tails.
Tiny is an Oranda...Landi is a "Butterfly" tail - (think that's what he's called....) Decided to soak their food first before I give them (especially flakes, pellets, dried worms, dried shrimps, etc). Gave them live plants and renovated their "home". They made new fry this week and so far....10-15 fry are doing pretty well but keeping me up nearly all night/day.
This is the site I found extremely helpful and the people are GREAT! I really mean they are good people.
