Orange robes on Buddist monks

Not sure if this is the right section but my daughter has just asked me why do buddist monks wear bright orange robes? I don't know, any ABers who do?

Go to the bottom of the first day and click on eight utensils, the answer is there. Hope this helps.

Great link sense4all i now know a lot more about the ceremony but still don't know why the robes are orange (safron) unless i missed it! quite possible lol

Orange - or saffron colour - is the most seen on Buddist monks from SE Asia. Red colour is found in Tibet, and others found in other orders in different countries.

The use of earth pigments or dyes led to the plain colours.

Monks follow different regimes including living by begging or by a vow of chasitity or poverty, but all seek to attain nirvana and end the cycle of birth and re-birth.
