focus "system failure"

Our four month old Focus 1.6 Zetec (WG06KSE) suffered from "System Failure" on Friday evening
This was the message that appeared on the display
We stopped the car - which would not restart for approximately five minutes - anyone got any ideas what this means ?
It appears to have cleared itself / hasn't reoccurred

This happenned to my mate as he was overtaking a truck on the M1!!! Take it to the dealer and demand they find out what is wrong

I have emailed the main dealers (from whom I purchased the car (NEW 4 months ago)) � and await a response�.

Phone them its easy to ignore e mails

I have received a reply from them - the car goes in tomorrow for a look-see - apparently (they say) this is not a common problem

I disagree with there "its not a common problem" stance. As i said it happenned to a friend on mine on the M1 he could have been killed.

Did you friends "SYSTEM FAILURE" light up on the display
and how old was the car ?

Right - have just returned from Ford - they put the car on a diagnostic check for an hour and came back with a faulty "engine mangement switch" - which doesn't tell me much - anyway they are changing it next Wednesday - watch this space for updates...........
