Ok..
Muslin squares - Yay. You will need at least 6 so go for it.
Sudocrem - Nay. I wouldn't buy unless baby developed rash and I was sure I would need it.
Johnsons Wipes - Maybe. Do you have room to store everything? If you have excess space can I borrow some please?
Breast Pump & Steriliser - I can only tell that I have bought Avent manual pump & microwave steriliser. I suppose its up to you.

muslin squares - yes if cheap, if not use flannels.
sudocrem, you may well get a little pot in your bounty pack and unless bubs has terrible nappy rash itll last ages.
johnsons wipes. Get unfragranced if you can, I use Huggies pure (on 2 for 1 at sainsburys at mo) expect to use 1 a week possibly.
Medela breast pumps are supposed to be very good. I bought just a hand pump by avent which worked fine

bounty pack is a pack you collect from mothercare or boots, you get one before birth, one just after and a few at milestone points in babys life. Your midwife usually gives the voucher for the first. be warned tho they are usually full of advertising things and once they get your info you may always get loads of junk mail.
Get a few freebies by going on sites like avent. they usually have a section where you can email pics of baby using their product and they send you a gift. I got about 10 worth of avent products.

Ha Ha you have really made me laugh that you are wondering whether 384 baby wipes will be too many - yes if you only have the baby for a weeks holiday! Otherwise, I would bank on buying that lot once a month! My second baby used to poo everytime he was fed - as he was breast fed, that was approximately 15 times a day for the first few weeks. I never really used muslin squares, but sudo creme is brilliant stuff - it works on anything. we still use it for any type of skin injury or rash - works a treat. P.S also still use baby wipes as disposable face cloths - I hate having damp cloths lying around - but proably not very environmentally friendly!!!!
Apparently breastmilk poos are less stinky than formula poos!
Have you purchased anything yet or are you still looking? I was surprised about the amount of baby wipes needed, Christ I really need to stock-up. Although I have read today that newborn bottoms are too sensitive for wipes and you should just use cooled boiled water and cotton wool and air the area before re-applying nappy.
I have been reading "The Rough Guide to Babies" by Miranda Levy. You seem to share my sarcasm and dislike of being patronised so I would really recommend it, it's had me chuckling all day but I've also learnt shed-loads.

Wow Nat how did the nshopping trip go?
I get my wipes from Boots they often have bogof on their own brand and they have a nice solid snap lid instead of a wappy plastic re stick one that never re sticks. They do non fragranced ones.
I had avent hand pump which was fine and an avent steam sterilizer.
Please tell me you did not get the sudocream!!
Breast milk poo doea smell less and is normally a very interesting yellow colour and very rarely solid but you get used to it. Like everything else really.
Good luck Nat keep us informed.

Thanks girls! I think i'm defo gonna buy that book "the rough guide to babies" pixie!
The AB ladies have warned me about the poos.... so i'm mentally prepared! I believe comparison someone gave was 'TAR'... how pleasant...
As for the shopping trip - it's kind of an online Ebay search!
We are however going to head to Makros today to see if there would be anything worth buying in bulk. e.g. the baby wipes, nappies, cotton wool etc.
Ive actually got a few books of the vouchers that the Boots Parenting Club send out - havent used them yet either.
Winny - I still need to buy the breast pump and sterlizer - heading to Kensingtn today as well so will look around for a decent one.
As for the SUDOCREM - no i didnt buy it.lol.
We've been given sooooo much stuff - especially clothes - so we have more than enough baby clothes!! Also found out that my uncle is giving us his baby bouncer, moses basket, car seat and much more - so it all really helps!
I did buy this yesterday - pure temptation got the better of me! I absolutely love the 'I Love My Bear' range.

Just a little word from an old 'un -
those muslin squares are brilliant for feeding time - slinging over your shoulder when burping to avoid getting sick all down your back; laying under baby's head when sleeping to protect the sheet etc and LOADS of other stuff when wet wipes won't do.
And see how little room they take up?
Ooooo - enjoy it!
(But don't buy as many toys as one of your advisors did - she ended up building an extension to house them all in - as if I didn't buy her enough when SHE was little!)
