Many thanks K for your speedy response.Funny thing is,that as soon as I had posted the Everyman clue,I got the answer! I never even noticed I'd made a mistake with the bishop clue,I was puzzling over another clue with territory in it,and got it mixed up lol!

Good gracious Kayakamina, I do it all the time! And I have crosswords for separate occasions: those that don't need dictionaries etc can be done on train, under hair-dryer, in dentist's waiting room etc, and others can only be done at home. All my crosswording is done in odd moments or in bed to send me to sleep at night.
