callling amateur musicians

are there any amateur musicians and i mean amateur who get together just to play for fun and personal pleasure.such as pop, folk, swing ballads ect in the central midlands area or would be interested in starting a small meet?

I like this question because every amateur band i have known seem to do it to head for fame and money!! Where has the pure love of music gone to nowadays???

Well, we do it for the fun of it. We're a concert wind band, all ages, all abilities. We play at fetes and concerts and things, and although we get paid a small amount as a band, the money goes back into the coffers to buy stuff like music and uniforms etc., and some of it will subsidise our trip to Belgium later this year.

Mostly we do it because we enjoy it and because it's good to get together once a week and do something different to work, plus we're improving our skills at the same time.

Wizzer, I don't know what you play, but if it's a wind instrument, there are bands like ours all over the place. We're in North Leicestershire if you're interested.

its nice to know there are groups out there , and also helping others along and giving encouragement to old and young. i am in the middle term of life started playing 6 years ago, wished i had started 40 years ago cela vie, cheers wizzer.
