Removed answers
5 Answers
I'm new and have given 11 answers and I see on my profile that 2 of them have been removed. Why?? I am not a rude person and I do not swear but I cannot understand why two of my answers have been removed and I don't know what answers they were. I really don't mind trying to help people if I think I know an answer but its a waste of time to find my answers are removed with no notification as to why. I know I did not double post so I cannot understand why (if I take time and trouble to respond to a post) my answer is removed. Can anyone give me any reasons for this please? Thanks.

No best answer has yet been selected by O'Reilly. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.

However, I wouldn't worry about it too much. The Ed removed a very nice & friendly thread between myself & raysparx yesterday - I hadn't noticed, but he let me know a bit later.
As Ray said, p'raps ours was removed because there were no arguments in it! So there you go....
Off out now, but have a lovely day O'Reilly.

Some answers are removed if the thread they appear in has been removed. It may well be yir own answer was okay but if a thread has been reported by three folk the thread is removed until ABE or one of her poorly paid underlings has given it the once over and decided if it's okay or no.
If you post the same thing more than once or ask it in different categories it can be removed.
If you've fallen behind wi yir subscriptions it can be removed.
If you have a poor sense of fashion it can be removed.
If the wind is blowing from the east, it can be removed.
If there's a vowel in the day, it can be removed.
Hope that clears it up...

O'Reilly, it is very easy to double-post without realising it if the site is running slow. Once you have clicked 'submit', if the screen does not clear immediately, it is then that you click again on 'submit' thinking you must have missed the first time. This results in a double submission. The site's computers recognise that they are identical and remove one and display the other. That way you believe you didn't double-post as you only see one on the screen, but it happens.
If you have only given 11 answers, then it wouldn't take long to go into your profile, click on the tab that says ' Q's I have answered' and look through them for a red sticker on a response that says 'THIS ANSWER IS BANNED'.
Most of us accept this as a fact of life on this site and most of us will have had questions/answers removed for the same reason.

It's sometimes possible to 'double post' without realising it. This can happen if you double-click the 'Submit' button or if you click 'Submit' a second time because nothing seems to happen for a while after the first click. My profile shows 5 removed answers. I know, for certain, that 3 of them have occurred for this reason and I'm guessing that the other 2 are the same. However, I have posted 6848 answers, so I suppose 5 removed answers isn't too bad anyway ;-)
