There is a story in the family that my Grandfather went to Japan when he was in the Royal Navy, 1904 - 1924. I have not been able to find anything in his service record of any ship he was on going to Japan. The family story was that he was there to train the Japanese Navy, he was a Leading Stoker . He could have been there in 1922 - 1924 when he was attached to HMS Vernon training base.
Anybody any ideas I am drawing a blank.
