Is Britain ready for a gay footballer?

I just read this article by ex-footballer Graham Le Saux;

It's all about how people thought he was gay during his career (he wasn't) and how it nearly drove him out of the game.

What would be the reaction to an openly gay footballer now?

Given that there are over 400 player in the English Premiership, the chances are that their are quite a few gay players now.

Judging by how easily "they go down" for free kicks I think the majority of the premier league players are irons.

Yes Neil, I've often wondered why it's called a man's sport I mean most of the players behave like a bunch of school girls. I mean rolling aound in agony all the time because their Alice Band has come off! would suprise be at all if most of them turned out to be gay.

I reckon Rugby has lots more gay players than footie.
All that rolling around on the floor,grappling,jumping on top of each other.
Then after 80 minutes they all jump in a big bath together.

Footballers do get paid alot yes, but at least they have a talent and there is a lifestyle that comes along with that. They have to stick to a strict regime to make sure they are fit enough to stay at the top of their game, eating properly, training every day, not going out and drinking all the time.

Im not saying that the amount of money they get should make up for this (is probably helps) but Movie stars get paid ridiculous amounts of money for staring in a film. They have a talent too but they dont have to stick to a strict lifestyle to make sure they can do their job to the best of their ability

Plus their career is usually over by 35, they can go into managment etc but Movie stars can carry on acting for a long time, especially the men
