asda car parking regs
17 Answers
hi....im a 26 yr old female(just in case you wanted to know) ok, ive just come back from my local asda, i went in for 5 mins, i ride a motorcycle, and i parked it near the disabled parking row, but not actually on it, i parked in an area af about 12 cars, but it was just concrete no markings, there was a sign on the wall saying no parking for longer then 3 hrs. well when i came out of the shop i was just putting my helmut on when this old meter maid woman came up to me with a face like thunder and said, 'oh you cant park there!' i replied, ' why not?' then she said 'because those cars cant reverse out ' (bearing in mind the gap between me and the row of parking places was about 2 car lengths long, and the cars could pull forward straight onto the carpark road) so i said to her 'they can pull forward to get out, and there's loadsa room anyway' then anyway she started being really snotty with me, i knew i wasnt in the wrong (i hope not anyway) so i said to her 'look go away, im not listening' and proceded to get my gloves on, she walked a few steps away still having a go at me, so i said, 'look at my face, do i look bothered ' which i think annoyed her, so she pulled out her hand printer thingy and started to type into it, so i walked over and said ' im not parked illegally, theres no signs saying no parking' she pointed to the one on the wall and said 'yes there is, its there' i said 'if you actually read it then you would know that it ays i cant leave my vehical here for more than 3 hrs' so she told me to leave before 'she prints it up' i told her she's in the wrong, and got on my bike and started going, while she was still ranting and raving. (she was probably having her menopause or something) can you tell me if i will get a ticked and was i catually in the wrong or not.....sorry for the long ass novel. xxx

If you can be issued with a ticket on private land,as a opposed to a public highway, the enforcing agency. eg NCP, is required to make this known by the appropriate signage which must be prominently displayed. Is there any in this car park?

Don't worry about it, she was just trying to scare you.
I visit our local Tescos around once a week on my motorbike, there is a designated motorbike parking area the size of one car space, everytime I go, over 200 times so far some moronic myopic car driver has always parked there disregarding the 6ft by 6ft sign. I always park my bike as you do on a spare bit.
Nothing id ever done about it.

On any private car park, regardless of who owns it, you should park within the marked bays if marked bays are provided- that is always part of the terms and conditions.
Regardless of who else might park there.
And do people really say 'look at my face, do I look bothered?' in real life?
If anyone said that to me, I'd quickly be looking at a slapped face.
:)

Most car parks have detailed notices which include a statement along the lines of "all vehicles must park in designated parking spaces". You were not ,and I personally think it sounds like you were in the wrong - even based on your description of events. They don't have to say "no parking" on every available space that isn't a marked bay!
If she never put the ticket on your bike or gave it to you by hand, regardless of wether you were in the wrong or not, then I wouldnt worry about it because you didnt receive the ticket even if she was writtin it out then there is jack the attendent can do. So ignore any concerns of a fine or points. Never waite around for a ticket drive away before its put into your possesion or on it. As for you bike well, as a biker myself Id rather not comment about where you can and cannot park as its a saw subject for me and dont wanna get started on that subject.
