i had a dream that i was in an unknown town right in the sea front, and there wer loads of little fury animals on the beach, rabits etc. then i saw a man who i didnt know and i asked him where to find sum1 altho i cant remember who i asked to see. he gave me directions to a house, and on the way i bumped into an old man hu in my dream i knew, but i dont no hu he was. and as i got closer and closer to the house a chain started pulling down on me towards the ground from between my legs, like a tampax string i guess.
when i finaly got to the house and enterd with the old man he dissapeard and i met the man i was origany looking for, and it was like a deja vu the house, the man, evrything, it was realy weird, then the man told me to lie down on the floor, and he pulled the chain out, then i went down sum stairs to a bathroom and that is all i can remember.

i only would like to know what this dream is suposed to mean as i havnt had any dreams that i can remember as clearly as that since i was a little girl. and when i woke up, i had the same dragging feeling as in the dream, and have done now for about two weeks along with a lower back pain...

please help me.

I'm afraid that Sigmund is not available at the moment. He had an emergency call to Croyden, where he is dealing with a most unusual and quite bizarre situation. We really don't expect him back for quite some time. Please hold on; you are caller number two, and your call is important to us.

ok, funny joke, i would actualy like to know what it meant tho!
Your dream contains several archetypal symbols relating to your preoccupations with creativity or fertility, spiritual freedom (and the fear of the loss of such freedom).
The sea represents collective unconsciousness and is both a female symbol (depth, womb-like nature), a male symbol (sea spray) and also represents the collective unconsciousness that we all try to probe by dream analysis. The furry animals also represent fertility. The house could have many meanings but in your dream it seems to represent claustrophobic, trapped feelings rather than safety, and the old man seems to be associated with fear of aging (the dragging chain) rather than wisdom or fulfilment through creativity or fertility. However, in the end the old man pulls out the chain and then you are free to go to the bathroom, a symbol of cleansing and liberation (going downstairs towards the open, rather than being trapped in the house).
If you are having pains in your waking hours then the dream is telling you to get it checked out..then hopefully the negative parts of the dream will not recur.
Sorry this is a bit lengthy but I hope it helps in some way.
I have just realised that it wasn't the old man who pulled out the chain, which makes more sense...therefore the old man in your dream would be a symbol of sterility or lack of power or creative outlet, and the other man would be a traditional male figure

brill, thanx so much for your help.
Hi...some dreams can be really unsettling and sometimes I think it would be good if there could be a Dream Interpretation subcategory under Body and Soul in Answerbank, then people could all give help with interpretations (because there are so many different ways of looking at the dream symbols). The traditional dream symbols are from Carl Jung, not so much old Sigmund (Freud), from his (Jung's) books such as 'Man and His Symbols'. Here's hoping we all have good dreams tonite!

well it did get me thinking because i dont usualy have dreams, none that are anything i remember that is. when i told my mother what i had dreampt she laughd and asked how much i had drank the night before
Yeah I know what your mum means...some dreams are just so loopy that they go way beyond trying to interpret them! I know some people dream in black and white, but I dream in vivid technicolour and can smell nice things in my dreams sometimes. My weirdest dream was that I snogged Pete Doherty...in real life I'm not even a fan of his music or anything!

hehe. o dear. i told my mum i wouldnt have dreampt if i had bin drinking... i would have been unconsious. i dont dream in black and white, but more dulled out colors, neutral colors i guess. do you recon my body is trying to tell me something with that dream?
i just cant get over how well it stayed with me
I agree that a Dream Interpretation category would be good on here.
Like cointreau I dream in colour and usually can remember them but I would like to know what they mean particularly the rather unsettling recurring ones.

yer, definatly. before i posted on here i tried looking on sights that had sections of what different elements in your dreams meant and it was hard to place them all together to make 1 picture out of such a messed up dream
your dream may not be as messed up as it seems, in fact the Spanish dramatist and poet Federico Garcia Lorca wrote a surreal dream-like piece in his play The House of Bernarda Alba, and it reminds me a bit of your dream.
That play concerns a household with women concerned about their fertility, attraction, etc, but the dream-like part concerns an old lady by the seashore, holding a furry lamb and dreaming of becoming part of the seaspray (away from the heavy atmosphere of the house). And men in that play are quite mysterious creatures, so your unknown men in the dream reminded me of that play quite a bit.
I'm not saying that the play is anything like your own situation but it does show that there are certain types of symbols that turn up in lots of different types of people's dreams.
I too have recurring dreams that I find uncomfortable and so I'd like to be able to understand them more.

wow. never heard of that play, i will have reaserch it i think, the wimen wernt pregnant where they?
hi...It has been a long time since I saw it or read it, but I remember there were quite a few sisters in the dream. I don't think any of them were pregnant, more dreaming of becoming pregnant and the male fantasy figures are all really remote but highly-sexually charged, really macho etc...it is a really old play now but strange that the archetypal dream symbols still seem to mean similar things! Also really significant that pregnancy can mean artistic or career potential as well as actual fertility as in being pregnant...but I think that in the play the passion comes out so much because it is repressed (the symbol of the house in the play)
