error 271

every time i start laptop i get message reading error 271.
check time and date settings and ive got to set time and date every time i switch on.what do i need to do to stop this error message appearing?

It could be the small battery in the laptop needs replacing.

When a laptop is switched off this small battery runs to keep the date, time and other information up to date.

If the battery runs out the date and time will be no longer kept.

it is an ibm thinkpad and could i have further disruptions if i don't replace thjis battery.
