Am doing Gordon Grays Christmas Puzzle Quiz, and have quite a lot of answers already. I dont however get the birds and bees connection at all. The first letters of my first nine answers dont spell out a bird that i have heard of or is it not that simple??

F, I,B,B,E,B,L, ?F I have one answer missing and the question mark next to the last 'f' means that i am not sure if the answer is correct.
The clue for this answer is provides and i have put furnishes.
The words beginning with B are the 'bees'. The other words spell out the birds, so in your example ( ignoring the 'Bs') you have
F I E L ? F ...... as the start of a 9-letter bird.
