I normally complete Telegraph Cryptic on Saturdays but yesterday I tried the Times Jumbo Cryptic and didn't even manage to get a quarter of it done! Please can someone give me a few answers so i can understand the style ready for next time. eg: what was: - the one about Jeeves - the one about The Times - the one about fancy and fish Any other answers would be appreciated.

I've posted mine but I think the answer to the "Jeeves" one was "gentleman's gentleman"
23a gentlemans gentleman
Gentlemans gentleman
Jeeves - gentleman's gentleman
16a Mackerel sky
45a Sundial
45a Sundial
27a Ide
1a & 1d which will give you a number of starting letters ...far from it & fund manager

Thanks. I threw mine away in frustration yesterday but now I'm wishing I'd persevered today
The one about fish was I recall ??E, although this assumes one of the few answers I got (GOGODANCERS) was correct!

Gentlemans gentleman - s=succeeded + cavalier (gentleman) 'repeatedly about it'

Sundial = 'Times given by this', 'paper' = sun + dial ('put' = laid, back)

Ide(a) = Idea - 'fancy', dropping 'a' = ide (fish)

Sorry Mightymouse- I missed your IDE (the fish answer) 'cos my PC is so slow submitting my previous response and I have to keeping logging out and in with answerbank.
Thanks everyone- I was on completely the wrong wavelength with this crossword.
Hi factor30
I usually do the easier version, times2. Please could you tell me what number it is? I've thrown the paper in the recycling bin and as it's cold, dark and raining I don't fancy going out to find it. Thank you
