With no chance (3,2,3,7). I tried "out of the running" but can anyone suggest another answer?
Thanks in advance.

Do you have any letters in it?

I have definitely: O?? ?? THE ??N?I??
(3) (2) (3) (7)

I have one or two going down missing so that's causing the problems.

Thank you.
Out of the running would fit, of course, and answers the clue.

What are the crossing clues and word lengths you don't have?
out of the running

Thanks to both of you.

Titch: 2 down which will now start with T, is 5 letters,
T?UCE. Clue is Weans fains.

5 down: Calypso's very old (7). I think it's Calypso from Greek mythology. I have O?Y?I??

I can usually finish this weekly crossword but obviously struggling this week.

Thank you.
5d should be Ogygian

relating to the mythical Attic king Ogyg\-es; prehistoric, primeval; very old; of Calypso's island, Ogygi\-a.

Weans = a child's

fains = a plea for exemption or a truce (school slang)

Titchfield, you are brilliant. I deliberately left out the G of running and you filled it with O(G)YGIAN. I thought the second clue was TRUCE but didn't know why. I'm Scottish so knew Weans but am too old to remember the playground!

I'm going to chance my arm once more with:
M.O.'s M.O. (6,7). I have RE?OA? S?NS?N?

I'm thinking of Medical Officer's Modus Operandi but might be far off the beam.
All I can come up with for those two are

RELOAD

and either SENSING or

SINSYNE (a Scottish word meaning "since that time").

I doubt that is going to help.

or reloan

I think I was wrong again in the one going down. I think the answer to this clue should be Remote Sensing,

The one down is Let grey work away (7). I think this is an anagram and becomes Telergy but I don't know the word and can't find it.

Thanks again.
telergy

a physical force assumed to be at work in telepathy.

Titchfield, thank you once again. Next week I shall just send you a copy of the whole crossword! I did eventually find Telergy, by the way, but in a crossword dictionary, not an ordinary one.
