I saw this in a paper during the week and totally agree, what do others think? Mr Grumpy at No 10 would do well to remember when:
1. We would draw the curtains when we were away; 2. We would tell the neighbours we were going on holiday and ask them to keep an eye on the house; 3. A policeman could give a youth a clip round the ear for being cheeky; 4. From the Midlands to the Borders, we could call each other "love" "me duck" or any other local greeting; 5. Builders could wof-whistle at, er ladies' assets; 6. We tipped the postman and binmen at Xmas because we knew them; 7. We had a post office in every village; 8. We could laugh at ourselves; 9. If someone broke into our house, we were the victim, not the burglar if he cut himself when smashing a window. 10. When we call the police, they would always come. 11. We would gather around bonfires, maypoles or any other community event without getting hammered by 'elf and safety. 12. We recycled without being bullied into it - using newspapers for fish and chips etc. 13, Groceries were weighed and put into paper bags - there was no plastic packaging. The government was our survant, not the other way round.
