puzzling family tree............ help appreciated
hi
i have done my family tree with relative ease. i am now branching onto my partners side and have hit a spot that doesnt make sense(well not to me) my father in law was born in 1948. name b**** quantrill mmn. quantrill. although i know his mmn was waghorn as i have her birth certificate. my father in laws 2 older brothers have the name waghorn mmn waghorn. i have searched fro a marriage for miss waghorn to mr quantrill but can find nothing. miss waghorn went on to marry mr wood in 1951 and on the wedding certificate it says she was a spinster and her name was quantrill and her fathers name was charles albert quantrill. but when i have looked through records i have her father down as albert c waghorn. it also says on my father in laws birth certificate that his father is charles quantrill and his mother is e.m quantrill. any ideas as to how the quantrill name came into the equation would be of great help
thanks in advance

1) a birth certificate for the mother where her father is albert c waghorn
2) a birth cert for brian but her married name is quantril and he has a father charles quantril
3) her other sons entries but as waghorn,
4) her marriage as quantril to wood where her father is charles albert quantrill
it's odd that her father on her marriaghe to wood is charles albert quantril yet her son's birth cert has his father as charles quantril, if she is on brian's birth cert as e.m quantrill and his father is charkes quantrill then it should also have her nee surname, as that impies they were married. it may be an error there, have you phoned the registrar to ask them to re-check the original register entry?

hi dot
thanks for answering. i shall answer your points the same way you have asked them.
1) i have a short birth certificate for ellen maud waghorn that confirms her dob and place. this i have checked against BMD listings and found her mmn was cox. i then found the marriage of waghorn/cox in 1914
2)brians birth certificate is a full one and i have her down as E.M. Quantrill and the father down as C.Quantrill
3) she has 2 other sons that brian knows as brothers one charles h waghorn mmn waghorn born 1943 and edward c.f. waghorn mmn waghorn born loughborough 1945
4) her marriage to wood her condition is spinster and her maiden name is quantrill and her father is charles albert quantrill
i looked firstly for the marriage of e m waghorn to charles quantrill between 1945 and 1948 but nothing. the only things that are springing to my mind are a) her mother, mrs waghorn nee cox met and married a mr quantrill later in life and ellen changed her name of waghorn to his. b) the charles quantrill that her mother' married' had a son also called charles and she had a baby with him. i have of course checked for this 'marriage' and can find nothing
thanks for you reply again, and any further light shed on this would be brilliant. i've looked at everything i can think of
