I would be grateful for the answer to four clues (am finding it really tough this week!): They are: 3down (five letters) 'Treatise that *** laude gets maximum praise' -U-M- 11across(three letters) 'Code number has its point' -I- 26down(three letters) 'Saying something that's cutting' -A- 28across (eight letters) 'Evensong has ING in it A-R-N-D- Many thanks again (need to get it posted today!) Sorry baitress, I had never heard of summa=treatise before.
I had always understood it to be part of the latin phrase 'summa c/u/m laude'.
I thought that degrees/dissertations etc were awarded in ascending order on the basis of their being
c/u/m laude = with praise
magna c/u/m laude =with great praise
then
summa c/u/m laude =with the highest praise.
