Apologies if this has been posted before, but a quick scan shows it probably hasn't.

I've just got an email saying that instead of 25 a year, access to the Guardian Crossword Club will be free from 1 September.

If everything else stays the same this will give access to all Guardian and Observer crosswords past and present, and hopefully the Monthly 100 prize crossword will remain.

Subscribers will get whatever proportion of their subscription remains back.

Enjoy !

Apologies if I don't get into any discussion of the pros and cons of this, but I'm off to the Pub Quiz !

Okay.....................

I thought this was a site for Crossword fans and the above may be big news, but it seems the majority of people on here just want to win charity quizzes by getting other people to give them the answers. Fair enough.
Hi CSIambleside!

I've just got in from playing bridge, and that's brilliant news! I don't have a subscription to the club, but I've often thought it would be cheaper than buying the paper.

Is the Monthly 100 prize crossword the same as Guardian Genius?
Apologies CSIambleside - I didn't see the thread, so thanks for drawing my attention to it.

I assure you that this crossword fan is grateful for the information & will look into it!

Thanks for your answers !

Hi kettledrum , yes I meant the Genius Crossword, I hope they keep it on. If they can afford to run the site subscription free, hopefully they can still afford the monthly 100 prize.

It has now been announced on The Crossword Club home page.
